I have never been a huge fan of the whole Boho look. It's usually a little too "hippie" for my taste. Today's ensemble is pretty much as Bohemian as I will ever get (rather tame, I know) and I think it's "free spirited" appearance is mostly due to my rather wild hair. ;)
This top was given to me a few years back and I have loved it ever since. The details of the lace and buttons are so victorian (I should really make over some tee shirts like this!) and the whimsy factor is right up my alley. The skirt is bias cut in a bold and unique pattern. I'm always careful with bias cut pieces, as I hate things to look too slinky, but this piece is really fun and has nice sleek shape.
The sweater has been probably my most favorite for quite a few years. I am a huge fan of long, drapey, comfy, cozy sweaters and this one works just as great with a dress and heels as with jeans and a tee shirt. It has definitely served me well and is still holding up beautifully.
The red shoes were the end result of a long search last year and were only $10 from Payless. They are rather cheap and are starting to look a bit tired already, but the enjoyment factor I have got out of them is worth it. :)
What I'm Wearing:
- Top by Style & co. (secondhand)
- Skirt by Madison Studio (secondhand)
- Sweater by Banana Republic (secondhand)
- Shoes by American Eagle from Payless
- Earrings from Greenwich, England
Now it's your turn! Post your secondhand look on your blog and add the link below. (Please make sure the link goes directly to your URL for today's post and not just to your blog homepage.) Remember, made-over, re-fashioned and reconstructed pieces and DIY tutorials can also be posted!
You can also add you photos to the Secondhand Fashion Week Flickr Album! Have fun! :)
