Silver Styles and the "Golden Girl"

Tuesday's Team Final was a tense and ultimately disappointing evening. The US fought through mistakes and injuries, but they just couldn't catch the Chinese. Still, I am so proud of them for all they did and for displaying a graceful spirit despite their disappointment.

The US team leotards were really great; deep red, with flames that fired up to their shoulders into the letters "USA". Some of the best costumes I saw out there, and definitely complemented them very well.

Last night was one I won't soon forget - what an amazing all-around! American's Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson (finishing 1st and 2nd respectively) rocked the podium and made a history for the US.

It was an evening filled with drama (I still want to kill all the judges who scored us so low!!!), strength and beauty. My whole-hearted congratulations goes to Nastia and Shawn for performing so beautifully under pressure and making us all proud! (Sorry if I seem hyper - I'm walking on air today! :)

Nastia and Shawn essentially wore leotards in the same design, but each in their own signature color. They really know how to pick them, because they suited their skin tones beautifully (I'm not a certified color consultant but I want to make a guess that Nastia is a Summer and Shawn is a Winter, with maybe some Autumn thrown in :). Each costume featured the "USA" logo on the right shoulder and had a tasteful amount of sequins. Definitely deserve gold medals in the leotard department. ;)
