I hope everyone is being patriotic and watching the Olympics! ;) I saw the ENTIRE opening ceremonies on Friday, which is a first for me - the last one I remember seeing was back in '96 - I was only seven and I'm sure I didn't last very long. So this was a lot of fun (if rather exhausting at over 4 hours!). Maybe I wouldn't have spent however many million on putting together that show, but there was some incredible, jaw dropping moments. On top of that - I got loads of costume inspiration! Now I want to make a Geisha outfit! lol. ;)

I hoped you've enjoyed this little Olympic Fashion Parade - I sure did! Now it's on to the games - GO USA!!! :)
Here's the "high fashion" highlights:

This dancer was absolutely amazing and blew me away with her grace and beauty. It was amazing to watch her ease as she moved over the surface that the other performers carried. If you don't want harem pants are seeing this... well, I'm truly sorry for you. ;)

A personal highlight of the show was when all the gorgeous "Geisha" girls came out. These costumes were breathtaking! We all sat around and chose which dresses and hair we liked best. I love the shade of pink on these gowns and all the little details, but the hair got voted down cause of the crooked ponytail look. ;)

These women won the best hairstyle vote and were popular in the dress department - there was just some objection to the harsh brightness of the yellow...

Ok, so these were my personal fav, despite the "cone" hairstyle. I just love the bodices of these dresses, with the sleek fitted sleeves and full ruched skirts. And did I mention that I LOVE their makeup jobs? *gasp* :)

A shot from above. The scale and beauty of the performances was just amazing.

Some random performers who I don't even remember seeing close up in the show. But check out all the details! (I love those huge fans! :) It was fantastic to see how many of the performers were sporting huge smiles - they looked like they were having too much fun!

The costume fun didn't stop when the show was over! Hundreds of Chinese Barbie Doll Cheerleaders clapped, stomped and waved their hands without ceasing over the 2+ hours it took for all the teams to walk out (I wonder how many actually got out of bed the next day :). Each team was led by a beautifully dressed woman and some of the teams were wearing their fantastic native costumes! What an evening!
