I don't know about your location, but here in New England "unpredictable" is the key word to describe the weather. It makes it pretty hard to decide what to put on in the morning. I usually do my favorite jeans and a top or tee and, depending on how the weather goes, I can go barefoot or add boots and a sweater. You've just got to be prepared for anything.
In this collection, I tried to choose items that work well for both late summer and early winter, thus "weathering" it well throughout fall. Remember, you can carry a great deal of your summer pieces into winter just by layering them!
- Leather Jackets are one of my favorites for almost any season. Super comfy and warm, they go great over anything. And remember that they now come in practically every shape, style and color in the book - there is sure to be a perfect one for you. Top it off with a slouchy red beret for some chic class... and wrap yourself round in a scarf - be it wool, chiffon or lace.
- A simple Sundress can be given new life during the fall season when worn under a soft, romantic sweater. Remember that this goes for lots of pieces, including a frilly, silk blouse or a simple, cotton skirt. Oh yes, and a decorative camisole can be layered under (or over) almost anything. It adds a sweet, girly touch.
- Depending on the weather, you can swing nearly any outfit with either flip flops or boots. I'm so glad that the latter are still so popular - you can find them anywhere, and they can be pretty affordable too!
- If you need to keep on schedule, wear your watch! Something nice and classy, like this one from Michele watches, will keep you on time. Be sure to pile on the fun accessories! I love this adorable pendant necklace, cameo bracelet, and gorgeous Chanel ring. And don't forget your sunglasses! Even though the "fun in the sun" days are nearly over, they still offer great protection, especially when the snow starts to fall. Simply a must-have for driving on winter white roads.
- A great, oversized handbag is perfect to take anywhere, although, if you are like me, you might want to limit yourself to something small to keep yourself from drowning in it! Ah yes, and if you are a brave fashionista, brandish a lace parasol - it makes a lovely party accessory. ;)
Also, as a side note - the pieces in this collection were chosen based on appearance and not on their price tags. Therefore, some of them are through the roof! Do not take this as a suggestion that you should spend over $1,000 on a leather jacket! There are inexpensive alternatives to every piece on the market and I bet you a lookalike for each of these can be found at your local mall, favorite shopping haunt, or thrift stores.
One of my biggest tips for shopping is - GET OUT THERE. I believe a lot of women are "suffering" from the belief that they won't be able to find anything when they shop. The key is to get out, look around, and try everything on. You will be surprised at what you find. I promise. :)
