Every once in a while, I like to bash one of the idolized new fashion looks. These are the top pick for downright ugly....
Actually, you could say that it is "so fifty years ago!" (Which should be a good thing but, in this case, isn't.) Audrey Hepburn may have pulled off a cute pair in her first big movie (Roman Holiday), but Vera Ellen was clearly a bit misguided. Check out her "fun in the sun" style! Not.

Don't get me wrong... I love strappy sandals. Lots of little busy leather straps crisscrossing and hugging the ankle can definitely be adorable. But I think the proportion of the "gladiator" is all wrong. All you end up with is an ankle that looks shorter and thicker than it really is. There may be an element of practicality in some of the designs, but most of them are not flattering. Get a load of these! :P
I simply can't get past this look. Why would any classy lady would want to look like she walked out of the Colosseum? I can see this maybe working for a costume event or an interesting fashion shoot, but I don't think it translates very well into the "ordinary everyday"...
So, now that I'm done ranting... what do YOU think???
