Curly hair is great joy and a great frustration. It can't just air dry, it won't just straighten, and while its craziness can disguise its sometimes unwashed state, some days it feels like it takes a pound of product in order to contain it. On those days (which seems like most days) I growl, throw it in a pony-tail, and pretend it's not there.
On other (less frequent) days, I wake up and somehow, almost magically, it seems happy with itself. And that makes me happy with my hair. Big, crazy, curly, blowing into my face hair. It makes me feel good to be alive. :)
This maxi dress is one of my favorite thrift store finds of the past year (almost all of my dresses are secondhand and cost me no more than $6), and while I've worn it with a cardigan in the past, I really like how it looks layered over another lacy top. (It can be hard to layer pieces so that they stay breezy and modest, without looking tacky. I'll let you judge whether or not this is a success. ;).
What I'm Wearing:
- Maxi Dress by apostrophe' - thrifted
- Lace Top - thrifted
- Wedge Sandals by what's what by AEROSOLES - Target
- Feather Earrings - made-by-me
- Ring - gift
Curly girls, please come out of the woodwork! How do you keep your hair looking nice and not too wild, especially in this awful summertime humidity??? I'd love to hear your tips and tricks!
Tryin' to keep it cool in a New England heat wave,
Amanda
