"Mamma Apple" Maternity Fashions

Posted on 06:40 by mark khandry
With my sister's baby shower just around the corner and the new little niece or nephew making his/her appearance in less than a month's time, I felt it was appropriate to share some maternity fashion on here. I know that most of my audience is younger ladies (or are you? Maybe I should do a poll?) but I figured that you can keep these looks in mind for the future. ;) Of course, you can always learn from cute dress styles, no matter what size you wear.

Shabby Apple just released their new maternity line and I, for one, think it is just adorable. Ladies all want to look and feel their best, especially when they are pregnant, and I think this company has created some lovely designs that will help do just that.

{Click on each photo for more images and information}

Like most of the dresses in the Mama Apple line, this design (in two different colors) is made from a beautiful, knit fabric. Comfort is essential in pregnancy and stretchy, knit fabrics make dresses easier to wear as the baby grows. Plus, they look super cute.

These colors are absolutely smashing. Purple is, of course, super trendy right now and very flattering in this deep shade. The dark teal color is one of my favorites. The dresses have flared sleeves and adjustable wrap ties. Not to mention that they have lovely names... Aphrodite and Odyssey. Can't beat that.

Red is the perfect color for winter, as seen on this Sicily dress. It's Christmas-y, romantic and perfect for day or evening. I just love black "rosette" accent. I've been seeing these on a lot of great pieces lately - they add a very feminine and vintage touch (not to mention that you can make your own quite easily :).

The blue and white dress is called Wonderland, which I love, two reasons being the famous Alice and a popular Christmas tune. This dress is definitely a little bit out of the ordinary but I like it just for that reason - very 60s mod or something. ;) Check out the unique pocket details.

Of course, any outfit needs just the right accessories to finish it off. Shabby Apple provides some absolutely adorable ones. First of all, there's a whole host of pretty pieces to dress up your hair. Ribbons, feathers and flowers are the most stylish and feminine ways to add a finishing touch, whether by themselves or as part of an elaborate headband.

Secondly, a great bag - one that is both practical and pretty to look at - is so important. Just grabbing it to head for the store can be an instant pick-me-up. I love the use of quilted and applique designs on these two pieces. And obviously, the big tote would make a great baby/diaper bag. Three cheers for fashionable mommies! ;)

Shoes are my personal favorite for finishing off an outfit. They can seriously make or break your look and need to be selected wisely. A unique pair of shoes can be showcase of your ensemble; simple ones can subtly compliment whatever your main piece is. Of course, shoes that are both gorgeous and practical are a dream come true.

I haven't been able to test out these Shabby Apple designs for myself, but I think they look like they fit the requirements. All of these sweet, heeled shoes (especially the red ones) look very comfortable. I adore the blue-ish silver ones, but I think the brown, purple-lined pair has to be my favorite. It's no surprise that they're called Breathless. ;) Which ones do you like best?

Of course, if you are not comfortable in high heels, there's some lovely ballet flats as well. Flower blossoms on shoes are a big deal right now and I think these are so cute. Especially the first ones. The colors are just perfect.

I do hope these provided some nice inspirations for your day. Remember, no matter what age we are or what stage of life we are in, we can still dress our best. Just make sure your inner beauty radiates as brightly as your exterior. After all,
"Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion." - Proverbs 11:22
I don't think any of us want to be like that. Let's shine from the inside out. :)

P.S. I've got a crazy weekend ahead of me, so the best of Maid Marian's wardrobe will not be posted until Monday or Tuesday. Looking forward to seeing the results! :)
