The 4th of July is one of my favorite days in the whole year. It's true that pretty much every holiday is special to me, but this one holds an very dear place in my heart. I have such a store of great memories of this day, and almost every one includes spending the day with the Thomases (I love you guys! :). This year was no exception, as we all headed into Boston to participate in the closing ceremonies of the Reformation 500 celebration.

Here's a bunch of us, spending a leisurely afternoon in the Boston Public Gardens. It was amazing how you can just put on an outfit from a different era and you become an instant celebrity; dozens of tourists asking for pictures with us, and many people (Americans) seeming to be in complete ignorance of the date and how it connected with our attire. Oh yeah, and most people thought that we were "pirates". lol. ;)

Later in the day we retired to our house to relax and enjoy some sword fighting (it was against the law to hack each other to pieces while on public property ;). Here it appears that two sweet maidens are about to become all too aware of the stealthy buccaneer's presence. (Although I'd watch out if I were him - Lydia's pretty handy with a blade herself...)

So, how did you spend your celebration of Independence? We must not take this day for granted, but fight to hold onto our freedom and our rights, in a day and age where they seem to be slipping away. May we never forget the men and women who laid their lives down so that we could stand up. God bless America...

P.S. Does that last paragraph sound at all reminiscent of one of my "speeches" in our "City On A Hill" musical? lol. ;)
