First we'll start out with Olivia Howard, an adorable and budding fashionista who blogs about sewing at Working With Eager Hands, sharing her projects and inspiration, and also runs a great little fashion blog of her own at Fresh Modesty...

AmandaBeth - Tell me a little bit about yourself.
AB - If you could have your own clothing line, what types of designs would you create?
Olivia - I think there is a real need for 1) modest and uber cute swimsuits and 2) cheap adorable skirts. But if I could have my own clothing line, I would probably end up with a ton of mix and match separates. I love it when things work with each other without looking like they came together.
AB - What do you keep in mind when picking out an outfit each day?
Olivia - First I try to remember what we’re going to do that day, and dress accordingly. I also try to think about what pieces I need to save for events later that week so I don’t have to wash them again. :D And then I create an outfit from what is left!

AB - What are your favorite places to shop for clothing?
Olivia - I love JCPenny, Khol’s, and Payless Shoe Source. Most of my tops come from Penny’s, my bottoms from Khol’s, and (obviously) shoes from Payless. We really don’t have much else around here.
AB - What are your favorite fashion and/or beauty tips or tricks? Have you discovered any "secrets" that you'd like to share?
Olivia - I think one major thing that can cause an outfit to look frumpy and not feminine is a droopy (in reality or in appearance because of the neckline of the shirt) bust line. It can seriously make or break an outfit! I may just have to do a post on my blog about this… :D
AB - At AmandaBeth Online, we try and emphasize the point that true beauty really comes from within. Do you have any thoughts on this important subject?
Olivia - If you are not truly beautiful and full of grace on the inside, it is hard to come across as beautiful and graceful on the outside. A heart fully surrendered and in love with Christ is a hidden beauty that every girl should possess...

AmandaBeth - Tell me a little bit about yourself.
Olivia - I’m a Reformed Presby living in the hills of West Virginia with my awesomely creative and flexible family of 7, soon to be 8. I’m the oldest child at 16 (and a half… :D). I taught myself to sew about 3 years ago and my machine has barely had time to rest since! My latest endeavor has been custom sewing modest swimsuits from my own pattern. Besides sewing and sharing my knowledge of it, I love to blog, visit with friends, and play in the mud. :D
AB - When did you first become interested in fashion? What inspired you as a child?
AB - When did you first become interested in fashion? What inspired you as a child?
Olivia - Honestly, I’ve only really been interested in “fashion” the last 4 years or so. Before that I had swings between not caring, fitting in, and trying to be different in a not-so-positive way. The modesty standards my parents had set, but I hadn’t embraced yet, kept these swings shallow-ish. :D
AB - How have your views on fashion and style changed as you've become older? What inspires you now?
Olivia - I’ve realized that I can either give Christ, homeschooling, and my family a good name and image or a bad one. The former is much more fun and something I can take joy in! A huge inspiring factor is my grandmother, Da. She is a lady of high class style and dignity and I’ve been told I have many of her physical features. I’m striving to acquire her mannerisms too- those of true southern ladies (she’s from TX). Plus, I just LOVE good style.

AB - How did you first hear about AmandaBeth Online? What made you want to participate in fashion week?
Olivia - I’ve been a follower for quite some time (originally found ABO through the S&S forum). I thought it looked like fun and I have to admit the “favorite fashionistas” contest sounded like something right up my alley.AB - If you could have your own clothing line, what types of designs would you create?

AB - Do you have any thoughts on how we can successfully impact the world of fashion?
Olivia - If one girl in every circle of friends was a fabulous fashionista, chances are she will slowly influence her peers towards cute, covering, classic, casual, classy clothing.

AB - Do you have a favorite style icon?

AB - Do you have a favorite style icon?
Olivia - Not really, unless the girls on the signs that hang from the ceiling of JCPenny count. :D
AB - What are some of your favorite pieces in your closet?
AB - What are some of your favorite pieces in your closet?
Olivia - My absolute favorite piece of clothing is my pair of So So Jeans from Khol’s. They were a little frumpy when I first bought them, but after a year of 3 day a week wear; they’ve formed to me and fit like a glove! Next favorite is the ultimate summer essential- crisp black faux patent flip flops with jeweled accents. I wear them constantly but they still look clean and put together. And, they were only $10 at Payless.
