Hmm...the weather is pretty much amazing this time of year! It's the perfect season to hit the beach, whether for an all-day family affair, or just an evening walk. (For those of you who are nowhere near a beach, I pity you from the bottom of my heart, but find a really nice lake and you'll have an OK substitute.) Those evening strolls along the New England coastline are my favorite...there's nothing like feeling the wind whip your face, running your toes through a mixture of sand and salt water, smelling that "ocean breeze", and watching the sun drop over the horizon. It's one of the most beautiful things you can do all summer long. *sigh*
When dressed for that summer stroll, you want to be sure that your clothes match your mood. A swimsuit or a tee and shorts are the standard beach wear, but once the day is over and the nighttime chill comes in, you'll want to cover up. And there's nothing more perfect than a sweet summer dress and some pretty accessories.
- For your dress, pick something breezy and romantic. A fabulous color is recommended. It doesn't matter if it's rather lightweight; you can always cover it up with a snazzy white trench coat in a cuddly fabric.
- Although the sun is making it's descent, a small, brimmed hat is still appropriate, especially if you want to keep your hair under control (that salty breeze does terrors to your tresses).
- A parasol is an old-fashioned addition to your look and full of vintage romance. Make sure you choose one that beautifully made - no plastic imitations here!
- And, although you can't wear them unless you're on the boardwalk, amazing shoes are still a lovely accessory. You can carry them in your hand on your stroll and just slip them on when you take off for dinner. Oh yes, and put on that amazing necklace you brought along. It adds the perfect touch.
Mmm...does all this make you want to plan a seaside excursion? Count me in!
