Vacationing...

Just wanted to let you know that I'll be off to Canada tomorrow morning, just a nice small party of me, my sister, my aunt, and her friend. We'll be staying at the house my gr-gr-grandfather built in the 1850s on tiny Isle Madame off the south coast of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia (the house is available to rent for vacations, btw, if anyone is interested), and then we'll pop over to stay with friends on Prince Edward Island for a couple of days. "What is orange?"

What is pink? a rose is pink

This skirt looks a bit more "pinky" in these photos, but let it deceive you not... it's burnt orange. One of my "favoritest" (that should be a word) colors. And while I love the poem above (Christina Rosetti is brilliant), I can think of many things that "orange" is.

• orange juice 
• pumpkins, and everything made from them
• glorious sunsets
• carrots (my favorite vegetable since childhood)
• clothes stained by the clay earth of Virginia or Prince Edward Island
• butterflies
• the bouquet of roses that my friends gave to me when I was in "The Sound of Music" earlier this year - it was the prettiest!
• creamsicles 
• the trees in autumn
